CURRENT PROJECTS AND GIGS:

Planet Loop:  New-world Jazz-Funk
With just two musicians creating a full-band mix of drum set and 7-string guitar/bass, PLANET LOOP is a unique trip not to be missed.  Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, they forge their own brand of new-world jazz, combining improvisation with the deep rhythms of swing, Latin, funk, and soul music.  Featuring Carrie Jahde (drums) and Michael Schaller (guitar/bass/samples), PLANET LOOP also frequently includes a third performer, ranging from sax to violin to trumpet, as part of the rotating “PLANET LOOP TRIO.”

NoCoasters:  Contemporary Jazz
NoCoasters is an innovative jazz trio comprised of three top-call musicians who all escaped their Midwestern (ie. no coast) upbringing for a life in the San Francisco bay area: Lee Bloom (piano), Brandon Essex (bass) and Carrie Jahde (drums). They take on original compositions, jazz, Latin, New Orleans, pop and even country standards and reinvent them in ever changing ways. Their approach is highly improvisational, playful, and communicative.

Shugga:  Soul/Jazz/R&B
Fronted by the world-renound singer Helen Bernard Gray (who formerly toured with Little Richard), Shugga pulls their inspiration from jazz, soul, blues and R&B contemporary and classic songs. Composer/pianist Larry Steelman puts a fresh twist on the arrangements, and the entire rhythm section can be found singing backup vocals in four-part harmony.  The full force of Shugga can be experienced at their regular monthly residency at Caffe Trieste in Berkeely, CA.

Maikel Garcia Group: Latin/Jazz/Funk
Born in Cuba, saxophonist Maikel Garcia grew up in a home alive with bossanova, funk, classic, and Cuban music. He combines jazz with his Latin roots and funk to create a unique fusion of rhythms. After graduating from music school in Santiago de Cuba, he founded several successful bands in Cuba...TGMay, La Alianza and Orbita 1. He recently relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in California from Cuenca Ecuador, where he played to sold out crowds with legendary guitar virtuoso Jorge Triana, Reunion Cuenca Jazz, Ecuador National Jazz Award winner The Kuky Ortega Project, Pacho Marchan, and Ale Dimogli.

Night Harvest:  World/Jazz
Night Harvest is a jazz string combo that blends elements of asian, celtic, gypsy, zydeco, brazilian and african music into original, virtuosic jazz creations. Classic jazz and international standards are also featured in the repertoire of this unique instrumental ensemble. They have performed at numerous venues public and private, including the house band at The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards; Double Barrell Wine Bar, the Jazz in July Festival; and the Two Day Town Festival.

David Correa:  Latin/World
Baja/TSR Records Recording Artist David Correa has been entertaining audiences since 1999 with its passionate and distinctive blend of instrumental Latin Guitar World Fusion. Blending the Spanish guitar with Afro-Cuban and Latin rhythms from Old Mexico & Central America with a hint of middle-eastern influenced melodies.  David has toured throughout the west coast, northwest & southwest regions of the U.S. and have won numerous accolades and awards. Including 3 NORBAY awards for best Latin band in the San Francisco North Bay area.
